What Portland Insure is, and what it is not
Portland Insure is a free comparison and referral service for Oregon drivers. It is not an insurance company, it is not a licensed insurance agency, and it does not issue policies or quote binding rates. When you call, you are connected with licensed insurance producers who can actually quote and bind coverage in Oregon.
Every rule cited to its source
Limits, deadlines and filing rules on this site link to the Oregon DMV or the Division of Financial Regulation page they come from. Check any of them.
One call, several carriers
Licensed Oregon producers price the same driver profile across multiple companies, because the cheapest carrier is different for every record.
No forms, no email harvesting
There is no quote form on this site. You call, you talk to a person, and you get an answer. Nothing is sold on.
Free to you
Comparison and referral costs you nothing. We are paid by the carriers and agencies we refer to, never by consumers.
How this works
You call. You describe your situation: the city your car is garaged in, the vehicle, who drives it, and anything on your record. That conversation goes to a licensed Oregon producer who prices your profile across the carriers they represent.
There is no form on this site, and that is deliberate. The variables that actually decide an insurance premium do not fit in form fields. Which carriers will take an SR-22 filing, which vehicle a teen driver gets assigned to, whether a violation is about to age out of the 3-year rating window: these are follow-up questions, and a form cannot ask one.
How we are paid
By the carriers and agencies we refer to, never by you. There is no fee for the comparison, no charge for the call, and no obligation to buy anything at the end of it.
That model has an obvious conflict built into it, so it is worth naming: we are paid when a referral converts. What we do about that is publish the source for every rule on this site, so you can check the advice against the Oregon DMV and the Division of Financial Regulation rather than taking our word for it.
How the content is researched
Every regulatory claim on this site, minimum limits, SR-22 durations, filing deadlines, comes from a primary government source and links to it inline. Those figures live in a single data file, so when a rule changes, every page changes with it rather than drifting out of date one article at a time.
We do not publish average premium tables. Sites in this category routinely publish carrier-by-carrier rate charts for specific cities, and those numbers are almost always modelled rather than observed. Quoting a precise-looking figure that nobody can verify is worse than saying plainly that the answer depends on your record, your vehicle, and which carriers will write you.
Content is reviewed and dated. This page and the regulatory data behind it were last checked on 2026-08-11.
What we cover
Personal auto insurance for drivers in 28 cities across Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, Marion and Yamhill counties, plus SR-22 filings, high-risk records, new and teen drivers, and rideshare or delivery work.
We do not currently cover Washington state. Vancouver and Camas sit inside the Portland metro but operate under a different set of statutory minimums, and publishing Oregon rules against a Washington address would be worse than not covering it at all.
If you have a complaint about an insurer
Contact the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation directly on 888-877-4894 or at [email protected]. They regulate insurers operating in Oregon and handle consumer complaints about claims handling, cancellations and rate disputes. That is a state function, not something a referral service can do for you.

If any of that sounds like the kind of help you want, the number is below. If it does not, the guides on this site are free to read and cite their sources, so use them either way.
